Landfill of Waste Directive Implementation Report according to Article 15 of Council Directive 1999/31/EC of 26 April 1999 on the landfill of waste.

The Landfill Directive aims to protect both human health and the environment. In particular, it aims to prevent, or reduce as much as possible, any negative impact from landfill on surface water, groundwater, soil, air and human health. It does this by introducing rigorous operational and technical requirements. This directive aims to protect both human health and the environment. Reports on the implementation of the Landfill Directive is send every year since 2018 (amendment directive 2018/850) to the European Commission.

The Directive classifies landfills into three categories :

  • landfills for hazardous waste
  • landfills for non-hazardous waste
  • landfills for inert waste
