Environmental Noise - Measurement campaigns

Description

Using measurement campaigns, the Environment Administration regularly monitors and assesses the acoustic impact of airport, rail or road traffic at specific locations. These campaigns are one of the most useful ways of caracterising the noise environment in an existing situation.

Thanks to the values collected, it is possible to calculate various acoustic indices (such as the Lden or Lnight indicator), to observe their changes over time, and to assess the impact of noise reduction measures implemented as part of the noise action plan. These campaigns also serve as benchmarks and can be used to validate models or strategic noise maps.
