This dataset was created from a 3D photogrammetry scan of an Tachyeres pteneres (Fuegian steamer duck) skull at the MNHNL. Before scanning, the skull was carefully prepared by removing the skin and freezing it to expose the fine bone and tissue structures, a step essential for taxidermic preservation.
The images were captured using a Canon R7 with a 50mm lens and a polarized ring flash to ensure optimal lighting and detail. The 3D reconstruction was then processed using 3DF Zephyr software.
