3D Photogrammetric Scans of Early Jurassic Ammonites from Gasperich, Luxembourg

Description

This dataset provides access to 3D photogrammetric scans of fossil ammonite specimens from the Early Jurassic deposits of Gasperich, Luxembourg.

The specimens could not be deposited in the public collections of the National Museum of Natural History of Luxembourg (MNHNL) and are instead preserved in a private collection. The 3D scans were therefore produced to make digital representations of these specimens publicly accessible and available for research, education, and further study.

The datasets published on data.public.lu include:

  • the original JPEG photographs used for photogrammetric reconstruction, acquired under polarised light using a ring flash;
  • the resulting 3D models in different resolutions and formats; and
  • links to the corresponding 3D models hosted on Sketchfab.

Together, these resources provide access to both the original image data and the resulting 3D models, allowing the specimens to be examined digitally even though the physical specimens are not held in a public collection.
