Erste Wetterstatistiken gehen auf Beobachtungen und manuelle Messungen aus dem Jahr 1949 zurück. Ab diesem Zeitpunkt entstand ein immer dichteres Netz von Wetterstationen. Ab den 1990er Jahren wurden die manuellen Stationen nach und nach durch automatische Wetterstationen ersetzt. Im Jahr 2000 wurde erstmals eine Internetseite mit Wetterdaten veröffentlicht. Seit dem Jahr 2010 sind sämtliche Daten unter www.agrimeteo.lu zugänglich. Auftrag Der Auftrag des Wetterdienstes der ASTA besteht darin, der Landwirtschaft auf Grundlage von wetterbedingten Daten, Analysen und Prognosen zur Verfügung zu stellen. Somit können die Witterungseinflüsse auf die landwirtschaftliche Produktion berücksichtigt und ein effizientes Arbeiten ermöglicht werden. Die Produktion kann optimiert und der Einsatz von Pflanzenschutzmitteln minimiert werden. Die Wetterdaten und die Vorhersagen sind für jeden Benutzer kostenlos zugänglich. Aktuell Aktuell verfügt der Wetterdienst der ASTA über ein Netz von 30 automatischen Wetterstationen. Anhand der gewonnenen Daten werden aktuelle Werte ermittelt, Statistiken erstellt und Prognosen errechnet. Die Prognosen sind einerseits auf jede Wetterstation zugeschnittene Wetterberichte, andererseits spezielle Prognosemodelle für landwirtschaftliche Anwendungen. Hervorzuheben sind Warndienste (Vitimeteo, Varroawetter) welche anzeigen, ob und ab wann eine Schädlingsbekämpfung (Apfelschorf), in verschiedenen Kulturen (Weinbau, Getreide, Raps), angebracht ist. Mittels der Datenauskunft kann der Benutzer sämtliche Wetterdaten herunterladen und zur weiteren eigenen Analyse benutzen. Im meteorologischen Bulletin wird die abgelaufene Jahreszeit aus meteorologischer Sicht analysiert. Aktuelle Wetterwarnungen geben Hinweise über drohende meteorologische Gefahren. Technik Die Standorte sind so gewählt, dass jede Wetterstation eine kleine Region repräsentativ erfasst. Die automatischen Wetterstationen sind je nach Bedarf mit unterschiedlichen Sensoren ausgerüstet. Der Messtakt der jeweiligen Sensoren beträgt meist eine Sekunde, hieraus werden Stundenwerte ermittelt und in den Datenlogger eingelesen. Die Datenübertragung zum Zentralrechner erfolgt über das Mobilfunknetz. Anschliessend werden die Daten kontrolliert und auf der Internetseite www.agrimeteo.lu veröffentlicht. Die Dienstleistungen werden ständig je nach Bedarf erweitert und verbessert.
